Physical Description:
The photobooth will consist of a 9 foot wide photographic backdrop paper which will be painted with a circus sideshow themed mural, suspended from a backdrop support on lighting stands, and pulled out forward to describe the photobooth area.
In addition there will be 2 to 3 lights in the form of studio strobes to light the shots, which will be softened with umbrellas, a softbox, and other light modifiers. These lights run of standard household 110v power which I'll need provided, but I'll have my own extension cords.
The concept, already presented to and vetted by the Moose Lodge Pod will be to set it up as part of the Moose Lodge décor, and the booth will be run for a minimum of 2 hours on the party night (though likely for much longer, assuming that there is demand and interest in photos to be taken). The booth may also be put to use at other times during the event both by myself and one or more other photographers that have spoken to me.
With the lights flanking the backdrop, the full space that I'll require is a minimum 12 foot by 12 foot square space in the Moose Lodge, although I could likely spread out to take up more space and stand further back for longer shots, that area is the minimum that I could be limited to. Ideally the placing will be somewhat central but that is flexible.
For further decoration we intend to bring fabric to drape around the photo booth area to serve to enclose it, but it remains to be seen if this will be logistically feasible.
There is no sound component to the photobooth.
Philosophical Statement:
Photography is a very exciting and compelling art form to me, and while there is certainly an art to putting a booth like this together, and there will be art manifesting in the mural backdrop… the real art will be an active collaboration and creation during the event with the direct involvement of the willing participants and the intention of sharing the results of that collaboration with the community afterwards.
