Hey, if you’re going to Recompression, I’ll be in Zig Lounge with friends

BACKGROUND: The name Zig is a reference to Zigfield Follies, lavish American
revues between 1907 and 1932, between the risqué Parisian Follies Bergere
and American vaudeville of the 1880s to 1930s. The Follies Bergere stage
show was popular from 1890s to 1920s, loaded with sexual inuendo through
staged dance with revealing female costume. Through American prohibition
from 1920-1933, speakeasies became increasingly popular as the trendy format
for creative social experience. In major cities, speakeasies like the Cotton
Club were often elaborate, offering food, live bands, floor shows, and strip
joints. After prohibition, jazz clubs remained, with increasing audience
participation, dancing to Swing, Dixieland and BeBop. Pre-1960 dance styles
involved physical contact between at least two. Zig Lounge is born from
these underground social club styles from 1880 to 1960.

COSTUME: If you're bringing a tickle trunk, theming might be described as
formal burlesque/boylesque. Sexy, festive clothing is encouraged for both
residents and visitors, but isn't always required.

AMBIENCE: Please contribute to cocktails and occasional canapés to jazz
stylings; erotic performance at other times posted.
