Subject: Vancouver Recompression 2008 - Thank You, Annotated Pics
Hey folks,
I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for the fantastic w/e you hosted, pARTicipated in, and made us feel extremely welcome at. The Vancouver/Seattle crowd are awesome, friendly, seemingly waterproof folks whom we'll be excited to join again some time down the line. If you're ever in the Toronto area, please don't hesitate to contact me or any of the other Toronto burners who came out and joined you. We'd LOVE to return the favour. :)
Btw, my apologies for deeking out so early on Sunday. Our ride had to get back to Van by mid-afternoon and we didn't want her to have to make the trek alone. Hugs and hive fives should have been the order of the day, but we'll have to say our in-person ciao-for-nows another time.
Here's an edited and annotated collection of the images we shot at and around the Recomp. Have a peek, enjoy and pass the link on! http://tinyurl.com/5jhz32

I do not know if I will ever stop buzzing from the energy at that gathering.
Now that I tasted the burning man spirit, I feel like I've been dehydrated for all my life.

Big, big big big big thanks to all the cast & crew of this year's ('08) Recompression!!! It was bigger, badder and more fabulous and awesome than ever before!! I loved it. You Canadian types ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love, love, love Saakimba, aka Karen, aka SAUCY THE KLOWN!!!!!

Agreed !! Much more of a chill vibe this year, which was really nice. Already counting down for next years Recomp !!

Thanks to all the Organizers, volunteers for putting in all the work to make this happen. Couldn't have happened without you!!
Veee

thanks everyone for the memories and hard work!
it all rocked - the moose lodge, Frank's photo project, the theme cabins, wellness castle, disaster area stuff, the fire performances and burn, the workshops, and everything else - Wow!
Blue your recompleasure dome was awesome and the set you threw down somewhere around maybe 2ish (but who knows) was the highlight of my dancefloor night - some of the best tracks I've heard in a long time!
We sure knows how to throw a party,
BonBon

I wanted to extend a thank you to you, and to everyone else who has put in countless hours of effort into organizing this event. It was a pleasure and a half and a recompleasure (!) on top of that being there and being introduced into the Burning Man community.

I've been to Burn in the Forest in 2006 at Mile 36, but that was only my second outdoor event and I had little to no idea about Burner culture. This year I was slightly more prepared, and was a part of the young and rowdy Zulu Shaman Hut cabin, and wanted to say that I was very impressed with the thought and organization that went into this regional event. I had an awesome, awesome time and will be back next year, and will make sure to catch the clown olympics again!

My girlfriend also came along, and it was her first non-mainstream rave/outdoor party. It was an awesome way to break her in, and I can speak on her behalf that she had a fucking great time, too, and really enjoyed being exposed to Burner shenanigans. She was the one who bellydanced in the talent show right before your entry. By the way, YOUR group's entry in the talent show was brilliant! I thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks for sharing that, and inducing a hearty laugh :).

Thanks again to you and other organizers for helping create a beautiful escape from reality, a genuinely wonderful time, and an experience to remember.

Yours truly,
Yegor

Just so that you all know, Vancouver 2008 Recompression was FAN-fucking-TASTIC!!!
I HIGHLY recommend for anyone interested to GO!!! GO!!! GO!!!
I have to give props to the Vancouver crew, what an AMAZING amount of effort these folks put into their event and their positive energy was truly heart warming.
I was SOOOO glad that I went, I'm just a little disappointed that as one of the newbies I didn't get to meet and get to know as many people as I would have liked to. I'm sure hoping I'll be graced with the opportunity to go again so that I can change that.

Indeed, recomp rocked in a very big way. I was really glad to be there.
Highly recommended, although a bit moist! Having the cabins and catering certainly made up for that though.
I didn't even realise how much I needed it until I was there! Yay!!

Hey everybody!
So... firstly I wanna say to everyone else who attended Recompression and/or helped make it happen: I had a simply amazing time this year... best Recomp yet! As is my usual M.O., I ran around, had lots of fun, danced like an idiot and took a ton of photos.
Now while I still have plenty of random-shots-from-around-the-event, that I plan to post... my primary effort was my photo booth, which was a art-grant assisted project, so I felt the onus was on me to get those posted as fast as possible. So here they are:
http://flickr.com/photos/yonderboy/sets/72157604495967746/with/2406136491/
I took a total of 1650 photos at the booth over both Friday and Saturday nights, so this judicious distillation is far less than 10% of those pictures (nobody likes being overwhelmed, no matter how good the photos are). If you were one of my many willing subjects, and you'd like to snag copies of the other shots that I took of you in the booth, just fire me an email mentioning who you are (and for ease of finding the pix, what you were wearing) and I'll email some shots off to you as soon as I have a chance.
Hope you all enjoy them!
Ciao,
Yonderboy
P.S. As always, if there's a photo of you up there that you have a strong issue with being in the public gallery... let me know.
